What is GVU?
Gujarat Veterinary University (GVU) is a premier state-level veterinary science university located in Anand, Gujarat, established in 2010 by the Government of Gujarat. It is dedicated to veterinary education, research, and extension services in animal health and production. GVU offers undergraduate (BVSc & AH), postgraduate (MVSc), and doctoral programmes in various branches of veterinary and animal sciences. The university also operates several constituent colleges and research stations across Gujarat. GVU plays a pivotal role in improving livestock health, dairy productivity, and disease control in the state, which has one of the largest cattle and buffalo populations in India. It collaborates with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and other national institutes. GVU is a common name among veterinary aspirants, particularly students from Gujarat and neighbouring states. The university conducts its own entrance exams and also participates in centralized counselling under the Veterinary Council of India. For competitive exams like AICAR, AICRP, or state PSC veterinary officer exams, GVU graduates are well-recognized.
