What is GUX?
GUX (Grameen Unnayan eXchange) is a digital platform launched under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. It is designed to streamline the exchange of information, resources, and services among rural development agencies, self-help groups (SHGs), and grassroots organisations across Indian villages. GUX enables real-time tracking of government schemes, facilitates direct benefit transfers, and offers a repository for best practices in rural livelihood enhancement. The platform is accessed by block-level officers, NGO partners, and village-level entrepreneurs to coordinate activities such as skill training, market linkage, and financial inclusion. In states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha, GUX has been integrated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to improve transparency and reduce delays in fund disbursement. Students preparing for competitive exams like UPSC and state PSCs may encounter GUX in questions related to e-governance initiatives and rural development schemes. The system emphasises vernacular language support to ensure accessibility for semi-literate users, and its mobile app version has seen over two lakh downloads since its beta release in 2023. GUX represents a shift towards data-driven rural planning and participatory development in India.
