Global Entrepreneurship Week
Full Form of GEW
What is GEW?
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international initiative that celebrates and promotes entrepreneurship among young people. It was launched in 2008 by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and is now observed in over 170 countries, including India. During the third week of November each year, thousands of events, competitions, and workshops are organized to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs, connect them with mentors and investors, and provide practical resources for starting and scaling businesses. In India, GEW has gained traction through partnerships with educational institutions, government bodies like Startup India, and industry associations such as NASSCOM and CII. The week is marked by campus talks, hackathons, pitch competitions, and policy discussions that encourage a culture of innovation and self-reliance. For students and professionals, GEW serves as a platform to network, learn from successful founders, and explore entrepreneurial career paths. Exams like the UGC NET and MBA entrance tests sometimes include questions on entrepreneurship ecosystems and initiatives like GEW, making it relevant for aspirants seeking to understand national and global startup movements.
