Educational Zone Helper
Full Form of EZH
What is EZH?
Educational Zone Helper (EZH) is a community-based support initiative introduced by select state governments in India, particularly in rural and semi-urban regions, to bridge the gap between formal schooling and extracurricular learning. It operates through local coordinators—often trained volunteers or retired teachers—who identify out-of-school children, organize bridge courses, distribute learning materials, and facilitate access to digital resources such as tablets and pre-loaded educational content. EZH centres typically function after school hours and during holidays, focusing on subjects like mathematics, science, and language proficiency. The scheme aligns with the National Education Policy 2020’s emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy. In some states, EZH is also linked to midday meal programs and health check-up camps. Students appearing for competitive exams like CTET, KVS, and NVS may encounter questions on such grassroots educational interventions. While not a pan-India programme, EZH has shown measurable improvements in attendance and retention rates in districts where it has been piloted. Its low-cost, scalable model makes it a relevant case study for discussions on universal access to quality education.
