Education Youth Quotient
Full Form of EYQ
What is EYQ?
Education Youth Quotient (EYQ) is a metric used by Indian educational institutions and policy bodies to quantify the skill development and learning outcomes of youth aged 15–29. EYQ assesses factors such as literacy, digital fluency, vocational training completion, and employability readiness. Introduced as part of the National Education Policy 2020 implementation framework, EYQ helps state governments and district education officers identify gaps in youth education and target interventions. It is often tracked through surveys like the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) and state-level skill gap analyses. EYQ is particularly relevant for assessing the impact of schemes such as Skill India and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. In competitive exams like UPSC and state civil services, questions on EYQ may appear under the topics of education policy and youth development. The quotient provides a data-driven approach to improving India's demographic dividend and aligning school and college curricula with industry needs.
