What is DTR?
A Distribution Transformer (DTR) is an electrical device that steps down high-voltage electricity from transmission lines to lower voltages suitable for use by homes, businesses, and industries. In India, DTRs are a critical component of the power distribution network, typically converting 11 kV or 22 kV to 440 V or 230 V. They are installed at substations, on poles, or in pad-mounted enclosures in urban and rural areas. DTRs operate continuously and are designed to handle varying loads while maintaining efficiency and safety.
