Bachelor of Vocational Training
Full Form of BVT
What is BVT?
Bachelor of Vocational Training (BVT) is a three-year undergraduate degree program introduced under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) in India. It focuses on providing industry-specific skills and practical knowledge alongside theoretical education, enabling graduates to become job-ready in sectors such as retail, healthcare, IT, tourism, and agriculture. The program is offered by various Indian universities and colleges, often in collaboration with industry partners, and follows a credit-based system that allows multiple entry and exit points. BVT emphasizes hands-on training, internships, and project work over traditional classroom learning. It was launched as part of the government's Skill India initiative to bridge the gap between education and employability. Students can choose specializations aligned with market demands. The degree is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is equivalent to other bachelor's degrees for higher education purposes. For competitive exams like UGC NET or state-level teaching eligibility tests, knowledge of such vocational programs is occasionally tested under current affairs or education policy sections.
