Bharat Kisan eXtension
Full Form of BKX
What is BKX?
Bharat Kisan eXtension (BKX) is a government-led agricultural extension program in India designed to bridge the gap between research institutions and farmers. It operates as a digital and field-based platform that delivers timely information on crop management, soil health, pest control, and market prices. The initiative is implemented through Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and state agricultural departments, ensuring last-mile reach to small and marginal farmers. BKX uses mobile apps, SMS alerts, and village-level workshops to disseminate expert advice, leveraging data from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The program is particularly active during sowing and harvest seasons, and its e-extension model has been adopted across multiple states such as Punjab, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. For competitive exams like UPSC and state agriculture officer tests, BKX is often quoted as a modern extension tool under the National Agricultural Extension System. Its role in improving crop yields and farmer income aligns with the government's doubling farmer income goal.
