Backup
Full Form of BAK
What is BAK?
Backup refers to the process of creating copies of data to protect against loss, corruption, or accidental deletion. In India, as digital transformation accelerates across government, banking, and education sectors, backup practices have become essential for business continuity and compliance. Indian companies often adopt the 3-2-1 backup rule: three copies of data, on two different media, with one offsite. Cloud backup services like AWS, Azure, and local providers such as Jio Cloud or Tata Communications are widely used. In Indian educational exams like JEE, GATE, and NTA UGC-NET computer science papers, questions on backup strategies, RAID levels, and disaster recovery appear regularly. Students learn about incremental, differential, and full backups, along with backup tools like rsync, Veeam, and Windows Backup. The Reserve Bank of India mandates backup policies for banks, making this knowledge critical for finance and IT professionals. Backup is not just a technical concept but a business imperative in India's data-driven economy.
