Advanced Qualification Framework
Full Form of AQF
What is AQF?
The Advanced Qualification Framework (AQF) is a structured credentialing system in India that integrates vocational training with mainstream academic education. Developed under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), it provides a clear pathway for learners to gain formal recognition for skills acquired through short-term courses, apprenticeships, or on-the-job training. The AQF assigns credit values and qualification levels, allowing seamless mobility between vocational institutes, polytechnics, and universities. It is implemented by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and is a key component of the Skill India mission. The framework is used by training providers, assessment bodies, and educational institutions across the country to standardize skill-based qualifications. In exams like UGC NET and CTET, questions on the AQF test candidates' understanding of credit transfer mechanisms and the integration of vocational and general education. The AQF promotes lifelong learning and employability by ensuring that every skill certification has a recognized academic equivalence, making it easier for students to pursue higher education or enter the workforce with verified competencies.
