Agricultural eXchange
Full Form of AGX
What is AGX?
An Agricultural eXchange (AGX) is a digital marketplace that connects farmers, traders, and buyers for transparent and efficient trading of agricultural produce. In India, AGX platforms complement the government's e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) initiative by enabling online auctions, price discovery, and direct sales without intermediaries. These exchanges are used primarily by farming communities, mandis, agricultural cooperatives, and food processing companies to access real-time market data and reduce post-harvest losses. AGX is especially relevant in states actively adopting agri-tech solutions, such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. The platform allows small and marginal farmers to bypass traditional APMC yards and negotiate better prices directly with bulk purchasers. The concept gained traction after 2020’s farm reforms, although implementation varies across regions. For competitive exams like IBPS AFO, NABARD, or UPSC Agriculture, a working knowledge of digital agricultural exchanges and their role in supply chain modernisation is increasingly tested. AGX represents a shift towards data-driven farming and market access.
